Skin Care
To give you a better idea of the cycle of skin care for treating mange or ringworm:
- one shot of ivermectin to treat mange at cost is around 10 pesos including the cost of the syringe, the ivermectin and the cotton ball and alcohol to clean the injection site.
- Most animals will require 4 to 8 injections depending on the severity of the case along with bathing.
- To go to a vet to get the injection, the minimal cost is 70 pesos, plus consultation each visit!
High Price for a Local ‘Cure’
Due to the high costs of local vets, the community members have created their own “cure”. They drench their animals in motor oil because it’s cheap and easily accessible. As you know, this is a terrible home made fix for this disease as it can easily poison the animal as they try to lick it off their skin, absorbs in through their open wounds causing blood poisoning, infection and more.
All Pets Deserve Vets will educate the communities to stop this practice and by offering them the ivermectin at cost, it will eliminate this as the proper treatments will be cheaper than motor oil!
We aim to provide this service and training so that no dog is turned out on the street to suffer alone or be poisoned. Please donate today to help save a pets life.
