Reggie became a Canadian yesterday!  All thanks to two amazing guys, Rob and Nelson, who volunteered to escort 3 dogs yesterday to Toronto.  3 organizations were able to each get a dog out to a better life and make life saving space to save another.  It was so bitter sweet saying good bye to my sweet, sweet boy Reggie but knowing what an amazing life he is going to have… makes it easier to let go.  Reggie was one of those special dogs with a personality that just sweeps you away.  He loves to hug, is so laid back and happy-go-lucky.  He got along with everything and everyone he ever met.  Best of luck to you Reggie!  I know you are going to find the PERFECT home thanks to my amazing rescue partners Save Our Scruff.  I will see you again!  Momma loves you always!

I am finally finished the website editing (I do still have a few success stories to fill in) but otherwise, I am SO HAPPY and GRATEFUL for the new website! 

It looks AMAZING. Heidi A great friend of mine, did ALL this work in such a short time I am blown away!  You can find her info at the very bottom of the home page.  If you need a website, she is your woman!  It has all the info you could need about our projects, our animals, volunteering… if there is anything you think I should add please let me know! 

There are so many things being worked on right now to prepare for the mobile clinic!  As I write this, I am making up pamphlets for adults on basic dog care, simple signs to know when your animal needs help and of course, HOW to get that help! 

It will talk about the importance of spaying and neutering, common illnesses and what the signs and symptoms are, preventing diseases and simple cures for things like fungus and yeast infections.  I cannot wait to get this pamphlet into the hands of the people! 

Basic things will help them better help their pets and keep their animals healthy and happy for years to come!  When the animals are healthy, they are a lot less likely to get dumped in the streets.

Voting will run for one week’s time until March 6th, 2016 10pm EST Facebook time! The name with the MOST VOTES wins half the pot and gets to name THIS ADORABLE PUPPY! His Story: This pup was brought to me only 2 or 3 days after Christmas by caring members of the community. They found him alone and scared in the street. At first, we thought he may be lost, so they were going to ask around if anyone had lost their puppy, and they did!  But no one claimed to own him.

After he got a good meal in him and started pooping… I knew he was a Christmas present gone wrong. For 2 days he pooped diaper jelly. That’s right, he ate baby diapers. Gross, right? Not to these dogs… I still waited for 2 weeks… now almost 2 months and no one has come claim him so he is now a part of “All Pets Deserve Vets” and will be placed for adoption soon!

This is why pets given as presents is a BAD idea! He didn’t know he was doing anything wrong… he just knew he wanted to eat diapers and probably made a big mess doing it.  I am grateful he was brought here because ANYTHING horrible could have happened to this happy guy on the street.

I am a little sad today.  I went to check on the momma and pups after picking up my daughter from school.  I saw them on the way to her school, but they seem to have vanished by the time I came back 15 minutes later.  A really nice neighbour has been helping me to locate the owner, explain about sterilization and keeping her and the pups indoors.  I have even offered to take all 3 of them in, have them sterilized and vaccinated and can help find good, responsible homes for the pups.  The sad part… we went to the apartment in the front that has a big fenced in area. 

The people there have 3 dogs, including one of the pups from the momma dog.  Well, her male who I photographed a month ago WITH the momma dog (who she claims she NEVER lets run the street) has TVT.  He is dripping blood so badly now, they have a shirt on him to try and contain it.  I confronted the woman when she said she never lets him out, and showed her the photos.  I told her he contracted the cancer because he is not fixed and because she let him run in the street.  But now we KNOW, momma dog will have it too as they know, he was the one mating with her. 

TVT is a contagious cancer that is curable, but really expensive for the locals.  When I found out today, he is the father of the pups, my heart broke.  Momma dog will grow tumors soon enough, she will spread it to other males as she comes into heat and the other dogs and pups living in this small apartment, can all get it too.  This is why spay and neuter is SO important. 

I am going to try and convince the owner to let me take her as soon as possible for her spay, and we will try to raise the funds to have her chemo treatment done at another vet clinic.  The cost, I do not know at this point.  The owner of the male dog, well she has plans to take her male dog to the pererra (the local dog pound) to put him to sleep because they cannot afford the treatment. 

TVT IS curable.  But without affordable access, they can not help their animals.  This is why we desperately need the mobile vet clinic.  We will be able to deliver these services at cost!  This will save countless lives, avoid unwanted puppies from being born, educate families about proper animal care and greatly increase the quality of life for everyone! 

I have to show this little guy Kris! He is ADORABLE, but he does not look it in a few of these photos. This poor little dog wandered onto someone’s property and he found his way to me through a good friend. He had a REALLY bad fungal infection which caused him to to lose 90% of his fur and ehrlichia, a common tick borne disease that is fatal without treatment. I wanted to wait to show his after photos, but he already looks so different you may not believe its the same dog! So, here are his photos from the day of his rescue, and his progress photos from 2 weeks ago! In a few weeks when his fur has finished growing fully in, I’ll do the BIG reveal! Coral and Pippa were two sisters that were sent out at two different times to two different rescues last year in the Toronto area. They were both adopted into the same family – different homes. (sister’s family adopted one, brothers family adopted the other) and they still see each other often! I love it!!!! Thank you Almost Home Animal Rescue Team and Save Our Scruff for always finding the perfect homes. How cool is it that these sisters are going to always be life long family!
